See below for more details*** About: Norwood Crossing is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Library support volunteer to organize and maintain the library. The volunteer will also sort magazines and books and determine if they are in good condition and up to date. The library is within the facility. Schedule is flexible but we do need someone that is able to commit on a weekly basis. Frequency of Volunteer Commitment: * Flexible, 1-2 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. Qualifications: * Must be able to bend, kneel, and stretch. * Some library experience but not required. * Organizational skills * Must be passionate about volunteering, friendly and considerate. * Interpersonal flexibility required with ability to take direction from staff. * Must support the goal of nor·VOL·ution and Norwood Life Society to enrich the lives of members of our community including the seniors we serve, our volunteers, the staff, and the community at large. Norwood Crossing Volunteer Covid Policy All volunteers must meet one of the following criteria: 1 - Fully vaccinated/up-to-date on all COVID-19 boosters Provide copy of vaccine card Sign Covid education form 2 - Vaccinated but not fully up-to-date on all boosters Provide copy of vaccine card Complete medical contraction paperwork Complete mandatory IPDH 90-minute training for all unvaccinated workers on Relias Sign Covid education form 3 - Medical or religious exemption Completed and approved exemption paperwork Complete mandatory IPDH 90-minute training for all unvaccinated workers on Relias Sign Covid education form Volunteers who have been on a floor where they has been a COVID outbreak will need to complete mandatory testing. Testing on site is recommended. At home tests or testing from a testing site are also permitted but we will need a copy of test results. If testing from home a picture of the test with your name and date will need to be provided. Vaccine cards, exemption or medical contraction paperwork, and all CMS training certificates need to be turned in to the Director of Volunteer Services before any volunteer begins their volunteer role at Norwood Crossing. Volunteers should not come in if they are symptomatic.

Time & day depends on when you are available - we are flexible as long as it's during business hours. At norVOLution, our mission is to provide meaningful volunteer experiences for all members of our community. * Must be passionate about volunteering, friendly, patient, and considerate. * Able to commit to being here consistently. Advance notice of absences is most helpful for the staff. * Interpersonal flexibility required and you need to be able to take direction from staff.

SATURDAY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FROM 10 AM TO 1 PM (ASSOCIATE) AND 12 PM TO 3PM (CASHIER) THURSDAY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FROM 12 PM TO 3 PM (CASHIER) AND 3 PM TO 5 PM (CASHIER) The nonprofit Norwood Life Society Thrift Shop has been a part of the fabric of the Norwood Park community for over 30 years. People know our lovely resale boutique as a place to get great bargains and strike up new friendships. Our volunteers help generate as much revenue as possible with proceeds from the sale of donations supporting the very best in senior services and enhancing the independence and well-being of older adults. There are a wide variety of tasks to keep volunteers busy throughout the day. Clothing is sorted from bags and boxes, tagged and priced and placed onto our sales floor. Household goods, books, artwork, collectibles and smaller furniture are also sorted, cleaned and made ready for sale. Helping customers find what they are looking for and working as a cashier round out the duties of a Thrift Shop Associate. Hours of Operation: Monday - Wednesday 10 am to 3 pm Thursday 10 am to 7 pm Friday - Saturday 10 am to 3 pm Sunday closed Commitment: Volunteers are expected to volunteer once a week for a minimum of 3 hours. Our volunteers work selflessly to help generate as much revenue as possible with proceeds from the sale of donations supporting the very best in senior services and enhancing the independence and well-being of older adults. Our Tidy Tuesday crew supports the Norwood Life Society Thrift Shop. This crew meets the first Tuesday of the month between 5 pm and 7 pm. Volunteers clean and organize the back room and sales floor, tidies up the stores displays, and removes old merchandise from the sales floor. ***All volunteers MUST meet and agree to our Covid policy. See below for more details*** Every Sunday Norwood Crossing holds church service from 9:45 to 11:15 AM and 1:30 to 3:15 PM. It is a non-denominational Christian service. Volunteers will help set-up and transport residents from their room to the service. Residents sing hymns, pray, and listen to readings. Holy Communion is on the first Sunday of the month. Impact: Many volunteers and residents form friendships which enhance the lives of both but most of all you would be helping by enriching the lives our our residents. Some duties: - Sit with a resident and help them follow the hymns and readings - Transport from their room to the chapel Benefits of your commitment: * You will make a difference in the lives of our senior residents * Have fun and make friends with residents, staff, & volunteers Qualifications: * Able to safely transport residents in their wheelchairs (training provided) * Able to commit to being here on time every week for the full two hours.
