Come and host a game night at one of our 5 apartment buildings. Game nights are great social activities for those who call Clare Housing "home". And, it's a great outreach opportunity for small groups. You provide the games and snacks. Maybe you'd like to host a BINGO night .... you bring the PRIZES and we'll provide the BINGO game! Apples to Apples anyone? Double 12's? How 'bout a couple of tables of Spades? YOU decide. But remember ..... feed 'em and they will come. :-) Treats and snacks HIGHLY recommended!

This is an opportunity for individuals, friends, and families to prepare and serve the evening meal to our residents and caregivers at any one of our three community care homes. The meals are family style and everyone eats together . . . including the cooks! We are looking for a commitment of a once a month rotation, but are open to different frequencies as well. Orientation of the kitchen, program and house will be provided. The evening meal is served between 4:30 & 6:00pm. The residents like to eat earlier rather than later. For many people, eating dinner together has become a lost art. But, it proves to be a simple, effective way to build relationships. Sharing a meal together can be a place of connectedness and simple joy. Family meals lead to better physical and mental health, as well as better nutritional intake. This is a great way to help preserve family mealtime, and to provide a little extra comfort and care to our residents living with HIV. And, it's a great opportunity for people who love to cook & and love to eat! (However, gourmet cooking skills are NOT required!) Please contact Debbie Wyman, Community Outreach Manager at 612.236.9528 for more information. The location varies. We have 3 community care homes; all in S. Minneapolis. We'll find the best location that works for you!

Many people living in our affordable-housing units have a tough time meeting all of their basic needs. Sometimes they are forced to decide between paying for rent, food, or medical costs. By stocking our small emergency food shelves, you are giving our residents a crucial source of nutrition and comfort when money runs short. We need healthy, nonperishable food items such as: Canned meals (ravioli, chili, pork and beans, chow Mein) Meats, fish and protein - canned tuna, ham or chicken, beef stew, chili, peanut butter, canned/dried beans Hearty soups and stews Fruits & Vegetables - 100% fruit juice, canned fruits and vegetables, instant potatoes Complete Meals - pasta & canned sauce, boxed meals, hearty soups Grains - cereal, rice Microwaveable instant oatmeal Pancake mix (mix-with-water) and syrup Instant macaroni and cheese that does not require butter and milk Special diet foods - gluten-free, low-sugar, low-sodium Cleaning supplies* - laundry detergent, paper towels, kitchen and bathroom cleaners For food safety reasons, personal care items and cleaning supplies need to be kept separate from food items. To make room for more healthy food on our shelves, we do not accept donations of candy or soda.
