LiteracyCNY is looking for volunteers who want to tutor small groups of adult low-level English language learners, at the direction of a classroom teacher. Interested volunteers follow a course outline to complete online training modules at home, meeting with LiteracyCNY staff at regular intervals to check-in. Upon completion, the volunteer assignment is made. * Volunteer tutors must have computer skills in order to complete training and receive communications from LiteracyCNY. * This volunteer opportunity is in partnership with Syracuse City School District, and will take place at one of their adult education locations. *Volunteer tutors must be able to participate at least once a week, at a consistent time. *Volunteer tutors agree to report monthly questionnaire regarding their tutoring activity.

LiteracyCNY is teaming up with CNYWorks to put Digital Literacy Volunteers in their Resource Room. Your role would be to help individuals as they're completing their job search-related tasks. CNYWorks’ Resource Room is a computer room allocated for individuals who are: Searching for jobs. Creating and accessing email account for employment correspondence. Completing online job applications. Creating or updating a resume or cover letter. Creating employment correspondence. Completing job skill assessments. Working on professional skill development. Examples: Typing speed and accuracy, MS Office Software, basic computer skills etc. Your role would be to help individuals as they're completing their job search-related tasks. Make the 1-3-6 commitment, volunteer one time per week for a 3-hour shift for 6 months or more. We are recruiting volunteers for a three-hour shift at CNYWorks office on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday mornings.
