Help adults in your community learn basic computer, smartphone, and tablet skills by volunteering with LiteracyCNY! We are looking to get a Digital Literacy Volunteer started at Jervis Public Library in Rome, NY.

Make the 1-3-6 commitment, volunteer one time per week for a 3-hour shift for 6 months or more. We'll schedule your volunteer shift at Jervis Library based on your availability.

Our Mission is to improve the reading, English language, math and digital literacy skills of adults in Central New York. Our trained volunteers support participants in achieving their personal goals to fully participate in the community as citizens, parents, consumers and workers.

Description

Through the use of one-to-one tutoring, small group classes, conversation groups, drop-in or appointment-based computer help, and online learning tools and resources LiteracyCNY uses volunteers to help members of the community to increase their skills in reading, math, English language, and digital literacy so that they are able to fully engage in life as parents, workers, consumers, and citizens.

Please note: All volunteers must be at least 18 years old, fluent in English, and have completed high school or the equivalent. Tutoring opportunities are available in Onondaga County. Digital Literacy Volunteer opportunities are available in Onondaga, Madison, Oneida, and Herkimer Counties.
