Volunteers of America, Utah and the Geraldine E. King Women's Resource Center invites individuals and mid-sized community groups to volunteer at our facility by assisting with meal prep and food service for up to 250 women, who are battling homelessness. As a meal service volunteer, you are tasked with providing positive community engagement and helping us meet nutritional needs by serving meals to our female clients. Our kitchen facility can accommodate groups of up to 5 individuals.

Join us in making a meaningful impact by helping to prepare and serve meals to the residents of our detoxification and recovery program. These individuals are facing both housing insecurity and substance addiction, and your support can make a significant difference in their lives. At our facility, we provide a safe and nurturing environment for residents as they navigate their journey toward recovery. Our dedicated case managers and staff work tirelessly to ensure residents have access to essential resources and services that empower them to become more self-sufficient. Meal Service All volunteers must be at least 18. Whether chopping vegetables, cooking, or assembling food trays, your efforts will directly contribute to the well-being of those we serve. But it's not just about the food. Your presence and willingness to engage with our residents will provide them with a sense of support, encouragement, and companionship. By sharing a smile, a kind word, or a listening ear, you can help create an atmosphere of compassion and understanding. Volunteers for meal service can plan on assisting with the preparation of meals, serving the meals, and cleaning up afterward. Volunteers must be able to stand for two hours. This opportunity's location is The Center for Women and Center - 697 W 4170 S, Murray, UT 84123. If you plan on bringing a meal, please schedule this opportunity as a team, reserving all additional slots, and contact our Volunteer Coordinators at 801-440-1451 for nutrition requirements and allergy information. Our kitchen is fully equipped, including a six-burner range, two ovens, a flat-top frying surface, and most small appliances. We offer reusable serving items, including pots, pans, reusable plates, cups, and utensils. Any items used during the meal service will need to be washed before the end of the meal. Volunteers of America is committed to addressing the basic needs of vulnerable populations and promoting their well-being. We recognize that something as simple as a clean pair of underwear can enhance personal hygiene, boost self-esteem, and restore dignity for those experiencing homelessness, poverty, mental illness, and addiction. We are in need of all sizes of men's and women's underwear. Underwear must be new. Volunteers of America operates the Geraldine King Women's Resource Center and enrolls 250 homeless women during the winter months. Our ladies need to have clean, new underwear on a daily basis to provide them the dignity of cleanliness. We need sizes 6 -12 all the time and appreciate the community support in helping us with this donation. You can also order from the King Women's Resource Center Amazon Wish List from the VOAUT.org website. We also will take clean, used bras.
