Volunteers of America, Utah and the Geraldine E. King Women's Resource Center invites individuals and mid-sized community groups to volunteer at our facility by assisting with meal prep and food service for up to 250 women, who are battling homelessness. As a meal service volunteer, you are tasked with providing positive community engagement and helping us meet nutritional needs by serving meals to our female clients. Our kitchen facility can accommodate groups of up to 5 individuals.

Are you seeking a volunteer opportunity for youth, but on-site volunteer age requirements limit your service options? Do you have a large group of volunteers that exceeds on-site volunteer opportunities? Would you like to help meet the nutritional needs of those who need it the most? This can be the perfect opportunity for meeting your volunteer service goals. Sack lunches will be assembled off-site and delivered to the Recovery on Redwood facility. Sack lunches need to be dropped off within 48 hours of being assembled. Date the sack lunches with the made date. Please include only shelf-stable items in the sack lunch. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are preferred. Fruit cups are always a nice treat. A bottle of water or a juice pouch is a welcomed item. Help prepare and serve a meal to residents in our detoxification and recovery program. Our residents are experiencing housing insecurity and substance addiction. Our dedicated case managers and staff assist residents with connecting to community resources that move them toward greater self-sufficiency. Meal Service All volunteers must be at least 18. The location site for this opportunity is The Center for Women and Center-697 W 4170 S, Murray, UT 84123. Volunteers coming in for lunch should plan to arrive at 11:30 a.m. lunch service begins at 12:30 p.m., Volunteers coming in for Dinner should plan to arrive at 5:00 p.m. dinner service runs until 6:30 p.m. Volunteers can plan to help prepare and serve a meal and clean up afterward with the assistance of our kitchen team. Volunteers have the option to bring the meal. If you plan on bringing a meal, please schedule this opportunity as a team, reserving all additional slots, and contact our Volunteer Coordinators at 801-440-1451 for nutrition requirements and allergy information. Our kitchen is fully equipped, including a six-burner range, two ovens, a flat-top frying surface, and most small appliances.
