Describe what the volunteer will be doing as part of this project: As a volunteer for this project, you will play a crucial role in redesigning Africa Matters Initiative's (AMI) logo for our upcoming 10-year anniversary celebration. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with our team to understand our organization's values and mission, developing design concepts that reflect our growth and vision, iterating on designs based on feedback, and delivering a final logo design that resonates with our audience. What impact will this project have on your organization? The redesign of our logo is significant for AMI as it marks a milestone in our journey of empowering African youth. A new logo will not only symbolize our 10 years of impact but also communicate our modern vision and growth as an organization. It will serve as a visual representation of our commitment to driving positive change in Africa and further strengthening our brand identity. Details on the current tech stack, technologies, and other software in place/use: At AMI, we primarily use Adobe Creative Suite for graphic design tasks, including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Our team is proficient in these software tools and can provide support and guidance throughout the design process. Additionally, we utilize cloud-based collaboration platforms such as Google Drive and Slack for project communication and file sharing. We are open to incorporating new technologies or software recommended by volunteers to enhance our design capabilities and workflow efficiency.

This campaign aims to host 10 events across 10 cities in Africa to celebrate our decade of impact in empowering African youth. Your responsibilities will include: Conducting market research to identify target demographics, trends, and preferences across the selected cities. Creating a strategic plan outlining key messaging, branding, and promotional tactics to effectively promote each event. Developing a cohesive communication strategy across various channels, including social media, email marketing, press releases, and partnerships. Collaborating with our team to ensure alignment with our organization's mission and objectives. Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the marketing efforts and making adjustments as needed to maximize engagement and attendance. What impact will this project have on your organization? The success of our 10-year anniversary campaign relies heavily on the effectiveness of our marketing and communication strategy. As a volunteer for this project, you will be essential in compiling and creating Africa Matters Initiative's (AMI) 10 Year Impact Report. Your responsibilities will include: Data Collection and Analysis: Collaborating with the AMI team to gather quantitative and qualitative data from the past decade of our programs and initiatives. Storytelling: Conducting interviews and collecting testimonials from beneficiaries, partners, and stakeholders to highlight personal stories of impact. Content Creation: Writing and editing sections of the report, ensuring clarity, coherence, and alignment with AMI’s mission and vision. Design and Layout: Working with graphic design tools to create an engaging and visually appealing report, including infographics, charts, and images. Review and Feedback: Coordinating with the AMI team and Board of Directors for feedback and revisions to ensure the final report accurately reflects AMI's impact and achievements. Final Production: Preparing the report for both digital and print distribution, ensuring it is accessible and shareable across various platforms. What impact will this project have on your organization? The 10 Year Impact Report will serve as a comprehensive reflection of AMI’s decade-long journey in empowering African youth. It will document our successes, challenges, and growth, providing a transparent account of our impact. Africa Matters Initiative (AMI) is a youth-led organisation committed to upskilling and empowering African youth to change their communities. We are dedicated to shifting the African narrative through leadership, social entrepreneurship, and advocacy.
Description
Our programs combine leadership and social entrepreneurship training to help young people make a positive contribution to their communities. Part of the training includes community-building initiatives that have impacted the lives of over 27,000 African youth on the continent and the diaspora. Our flagship and Bespoke programs include the Africa Matters Ambassadors Program (AMAP), Schools Leadership Development Program (SLDP), and the ShE is Empowered Program (ShE). Through our programs, African youth are able to conceptualise and implement solutions that directly address the social issues in their communities. We place the value of advocacy, social innovation and entrepreneurship at the centre of our programs.
