The Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida is seeking passionate volunteers to join our dynamic team! We are gearing up for our upcoming Innovation Summit and need your help to make it a success. We have other opportunities throughout the year as well. You could have the opportunity to work directly with our Executive Director and board to learn new skills or get acknowledgment for the amazing skills you already have. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the planning and execution of the Innovation Summit. Help with logistical arrangements, including venue setup and coordination with vendors. Support the registration process and provide a welcoming experience for attendees. Facilitate smooth operation of the event through various roles, from ushering to information assistance. What We’re Looking For: Energetic individuals with a can-do attitude and strong communication skills. Team players who are organized and able to handle multiple tasks. Interest or experience in event planning, logistics, or hospitality. Availability for the duration of the Innovation Summit (April 25-27, 2024), as well as some preparatory days before the event. The Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida & Foundation is a nonprofit that works with businesses to provide them with the tools needed to succeed and influence growth and capabilities within the communities it serves. HACCOF provides programs, education, and networking opportunities to encourage growth in leadership and business. We are doing our best as an organization to take the Haitian community and it's support system to new heights. Outside of the spanish speaking community, the Haitian Kreyol speaking community is the 2nd largest. Join our mission as we continue to empower. The volunteer Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying grant opportunities, managing the grant development and proposal process. Candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, a professional and resourceful demeanor, the ability to work both independently and as a team player, and a desire to take initiative and manage numerous projects simultaneously. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Research and identify grant opportunities based on funding amount needed, location, and organization project. (we will help with a few tools as needed) Track and create a calendar of grant opportunities - including deadline dates, required materials, etc. Complete and submit grant applications to secure funding. Successfully understand and communicate the mission and vision of the company applying for the grant. Maintain a chart of grant applications: including grants applied to, the status of the application, grant deadline. Communicate with foundations, if needed, to confirm an organization is applicable to apply for funding. Identify all requirements of the grant to ensure all necessary attachments are submitted on time. Prioritize grants to apply for (based on the size of the grant and the time funding is released) Create and update grant FAQ document to provide organizations applying for their own grants. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Demonstrated experience in obtaining grants from non-profits, charities, and other philanthropic organizations. Minimum 1 year of experience in Grant writing applications for non-profit organizations. Research and identify grant opportunities based on funding amount needed, location, and organization project. Track and create a calendar of grant opportunities - including deadline dates, required materials, etc. Complete and submit grant applications to secure funding. Successfully understand and communicate the mission and vision of the company applying for the grant.
