Suncrest Hospice is looking for Sunshine Volunteers to visit with our patients in the Richmond, Virginia service area which includes Henrico County, Chesterfield County, Caroline County, Prince George County, Powhatan County and Goochland County Suncrest Hospice Sunshine Volunteers spend time with our terminally ill patients in whatever setting the patient calls home. (house the patient raised their family in, a nursing home, a senior apartment community or a memory care unit in a nursing home.) Your function as volunteer with Suncrest Hospice would be to "bring the sunshine" to your patient or their caregiver. If your visit takes place on a nice day and your patient is able, you can go outside with them; or you can stay indoors and play a board game like checkers or Sorry!. You can play music for your patient or watch classic television together. Whatever your patient enjoys doing, the two of you can do it together. As a Suncrest Hospice volunteer, you would use your skills, talents, abilities and knowledge to help improve the quality of your patient's life. You will receive up-to-date training, guidance, positive feedback and that great sense of well-being that only comes from knowing that with every visit with your patient, you are making a difference in the life of someone who needs you. Are you a Certified Pet Therapy volunteer? Do you want to share your pet (dogs only, please) with hospice patients who love dogs, but no longer have their dog or access to a dog? Are you looking for just the right fit for you and your trained Pet Therapy dog? Suncrest Hospice may very well be your answer. Become a Suncrest Hospice Pet Therapy Volunteer. Suncrest Hospice is looking for Certified Pet Therapy volunteers to visit with our patients living in their own home, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or independent living apartment As your dog's handler, you will need to undergo Suncrest Hospice volunteer training and you will need to provide evidence that your dog's license and shot records are up to date. Suncrest Hospice is seeking creative administrative people interested in constructing/compiling a monthly digital newsletter. You will need to undergo Suncrest Hospice's volunteer training as well as submit to a background check and have a TB test performed all at no cost to you. You will need to attend in-service training when necessary. You'll work under the guidance of the Volunteer Coordinator gathering pertainent informative and interesting items to put in a monthly newsletter for email distribution. Suncrest Hospice is looking for caring and compassionate individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of our hospice patients. We have many opportunities available in Richmond as well as surrounding areas. We are always looking for volunteers to offer companionship, music and are related talents or pet therapy visits. If field work isn't your thing, we have many administrative opportunities as well, newsletters, pen pals, addressing birthday cards. You don't need to have a lot of time, but you do need to have a lot of heart. Please contact us if you are interested. We require a TB screen as well as a background check, training and onboarding offered. Must be at least 18 or older to volunteer.
