Board Director

Overview: We are seeking passionate individuals to join our Board of Directors. Your expertise, experience, and dedication will be essential in supporting our mission. As a Board Director, you will help shape the strategic direction of the organization, ensure effective governance, and advance our goal of reducing isolation and loneliness through interactive drum circle events that engage people of all ages and abilities. Key Responsibilities: - Guide the organization’s long-term vision and strategic planning to ensure alignment with its mission and goals. Offer insights and recommendations to help shape the organization’s direction and priorities. - Attend and actively engage in board meetings, committee meetings, and special events. Prepare for meetings by reviewing materials in advance and contribute to discussions and decision-making. - Represent the organization within the community to build support and awareness. Participate in and support fundraising activities to help secure financial resources for the organization. - Review, approve, and oversee the implementation of organizational policies, budgets, and strategic plans. Ensure that these documents support the organization’s goals and comply with legal and regulatory requirements. - Work closely with fellow board members, staff, and volunteers to achieve the organization’s objectives. Foster a cooperative environment and share expertise to enhance organizational effectiveness. - Act as a representative of the organization, promoting its mission and values to external audiences. Enhance the organization’s public image and build positive relationships with stakeholders. Requirements and Skills: - Commitment to the mission and vision of Rhythm of Life Society. - Previous experience serving on nonprofit boards or relevant leadership experience preferred. - Expertise in areas such as finance, law, marketing, fundraising, or program development is desirable. - Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. - Ability to dedicate time and energy to actively participate in board activities and support the organization's initiatives. - A diverse range of perspectives and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Grant Writer

Role Description: We are looking for an experienced grant writer or someone with similar experience/training who is adept at researching and securing funding, particularly from non-government sources. You will be researching and recruiting for funding in an effort to support our mission of building community health locally by providing drum circles and running events for all to participate. Job Responsibilities: Research fundraising and grant opportunities Work with the leadership team to draft and submit assigned grants. Mission Statement

Rhythm of Life Society exists to ease isolation and loneliness in our communities through interactive drum circle events that engage people of all ages and abilities.

Description

Rhythm of Life Society is a registered charity organization based in British Columbia, Canada. Our vision is a world in which the transformative power of music and movement elevates the well-being of all people.

Our initial pilot project, named the Drum Run Adventure Tour, was a running and drumming tour throughout B.C. held in partnership with the BC Children's Hospital Foundation. Drum Run launched on September 10th, 2023. The 'Drum' part of Drum Run took place in Community Drum Circles held in over 20 cities along the tour route throughout B.C. The 'Run' part of Drum Run involved our founder, Lyle Povah, running over 1,500 km of the tour route.

The completion of the tour mid November 2023 signaled the move into our second phase, which builds community health locally, providing drum circles and community events for all to participate within the Metro Vancouver area.
