Volunteer Opportunity: We are seeking individuals with extensive knowledge and experience in grant writing to help Mommy's Heart apply for grants to underwrite our programs. Volunteer may work remotely or at the office during designated times. Work schedule and time commitment are determined by volunteer. More about Mommy's Heart: Mommy's Heart, Inc. Family courts across our nation are violating fundamental basic human rights. Innocent children and parents are dying as a result. With your assistance, we can reform the family court system to protect the rights and safety of these deserving families in need. A domestic abuse survivor should not have to suffer retaliatory lawfare by her former partner's weaponization of the court system using the child as a pawn to exact revenge for reporting violence in an effort to escape an acutely dangerous situation safely. Volunteer Opportunity: We are seeking volunteer attorneys, with an active license in New York, to participate in our pro-bono legal program. Work schedule and time commitment are determined by volunteer. There are several ways attorneys can help: 1. Supervising a law school student to provide mentorship and ongoing case support 2. Assisting pro-se litigants 3. Representing parents in court as their attorney of record On May 27, 2023, we successfully launched our Legal Summer Internship program with participating law school students from NYU, Cardozo, Brooklyn Law School, and others. We hosted a three-hour family law orientation conducted by family law expert attorney, scholar, author, and professor, Kris McDaniel-Miccio, JD, LLM, JS.D at 1 Pennsylvania Plaza, which was free to all interested in learning more about our mission and/or volunteering in our pro-bono legal program. Work schedule and time commitment are determined by volunteer. Tasks may include organizing contacts and spreadsheets, creating and designing invitations and newsletters, drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments and making reservations, facilitating deliveries, updating social media, research, donor relations, and outreach. Meetings with the executive director of Mommy's Heart may be conducted virtually or in person at the office during designated times. No minimum time commitment required.
