Become a new volunteer in Raleigh SrTechEd (RSTE) as an instructor and/or a coach. An instructor would prepare class handouts and teach classes. A coach would primarily help students at our in-person help sessions. We currently teach classes on computers, hand-held devices, Internet and related subjects, as well as other topics of interest, especially for seniors. We are looking for people who could bring fresh ideas for subjects that will help seniors. These subjects could leverage your life experiences like career and hobbies, and could include topics such as: Navigating the medical world: telemedicine (virtual visits with health providers), online health resources, like MyChart, WebMD, etc. Saving money: Online shopping, using coupons, Craig’s List, Angi, eBay, Amazon, affordable home Internet Social media: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, etc. Artificial intelligence: What is it and how will it affect me? Managing your finances: online banking and bill paying, budget management Trip planning and transportation: tours, cruises, Uber, Lyft, renting cars and buying airline tickets online eBooks and eReaders: Such as Kindle, eReader vs. tablet computer Buying groceries and restaurant food online Cutting the cord: streaming (with Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc.), smart TVs Messaging: such as iMessage, Google Chat, WhatsApp Podcasts IMMEDIATE NEED: People who can teach/coach people on the use of smartphones, both iOS and Android. We teach in classrooms located in East, Central and North Raleigh and are expanding to senior living areas around the Raleigh area. The President of Raleigh SrTechED (RSTE) will function as the chief executive officer of the Corporation, shall have general charge and supervision over and responsibility for the affairs of the Corporation, and shall preside at meetings of the members. Unless otherwise directed by the RSTE Board, all other officers shall be subject to the authority and the supervision of the President. The President should have in-depth knowledge of the processes, functions, and activities in taking care of day-to-day business. The President should be a hands-on person who can train, direct, inspire, and motivate others in accomplishing day-to-day tasks. That person should have business knowledge to the level of ensuring the financial accuracy and stability of the organization. That person should also have technical knowledge to the point of assuring all goals of the organization are accomplished. Most importantly, the President of RSTE should have a vision of the potential and direction of the organization with personal and communication skills to share ideas and lead others in making RSTE successful. Work on a team of volunteers in Raleigh SrTechEd (RSTE) in marketing and publicizing their classes. RSTE is an all-volunteer non-profit organization which offers low cost classes and help to adults for technology on computers, tablets, smart phones and applications running on those platforms. We also provide help sessions where we meet with clients and help them with their technology questions and problems. We are currently expanding our market to 55+ residence areas and organizations in the Raleigh metro area. We will be teaching classes and holding help sessions at their locations. RSTE has been promoting its program through a mailing list, on Facebook and with direct contact with 55+ organizations. We are looking for a hands-on person to help with our current advertising platforms and also investigate new advertising opportunities. Specific experience with MailChimp would be helpful.
