Virtual Opportunity
This remote clinic takes place on the first Saturday of each month. CLASP offers callers seeking legal help a chance to speak with an attorney for free and receive a 15-20 minute telephone consultation on that day only. Legal advice is available in various areas of law, including family, immigration, housing, employment, consumer, bankruptcy, personal injury, trusts & estates, real estate, and more. The clinic begins with intake from 10 am - 12 pm. Later that same day, clients will receive a call from an attorney to give them advice on their legal issue. We are looking for volunteers for intake, interpretation, and attorney volunteers. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Clinics Coordinator Amarilis Medrano at amarilis@acbanet.org for more information.

California Free Legal Answers (FLA) is an online legal advice platform that offers free legal advice to low-income residents of Northern California. Attorney volunteers will select a client’s question to answer and draft an answer to the client. Volunteers then email their drafted answer to us and an expert attorney in that area edits the draft, emails it back, and the attorney posts the revised answer to the client. To sign up: first, complete the training which can be found at https://disasterlegalservicesca.org/flatraining/ then head to ca.freelegalanswers.org to create an account. Attorneys with over 10 years’ experience can sign up to review answers in their area of expertise For any questions, please email freelegalanswers@acbanet.org *This platform is in partnership with the American Bar Association, California Lawyers Association, and the Disaster Legal Assistance Collaborative.

Virtual Opportunity
This opportunity is open to all CA licensed attorneys in good standing. Training and supervision is provided by Legal Access Alameda. Volunteer attorneys are matched with a low income parent who has a short cause hearing regarding child custody and visitation already set on the court's calendar. The volunteer speaks to the client, reviews relevant court filings, and represents the litigant at the hearing on a limited scope basis. After preparing written orders and making sure the client understands them, the attorney's work for the client is complete. SCP will file a Substitution of Attorney or Notice of Completion of Limited Scope Representation.
