Do you love to plan parties? Show Cornerstone children how special they are during their birthday month by creating a "Birthday in a Box" for a classroom celebration! The "Birthday in a Box" is a handmade party package created to serve up approximately 20 preschool age children, made or paid for by the volunteer. It's up to the volunteer what they want to provide--the box might include printed off coloring sheets of a birthday cake, party hats from Dollar Tree, and cupcakes from Schnucks, for example. We'd like the "Birthday in a Box" program to repeat once a month, in order to celebrate all the children who have birthdays within the month. This opportunity involves both virtual and in-person aspects. Volunteers will create their "Birthday in a Box" independently outside of the center, but they will be asked to drop it off at the center. Volunteers can work together on this project.

Virtual Opportunity
If you're looking for a virtual way to support Cornerstone Center for Early Learning, consider hosting a Donation Drive! You can host a drive for any number of in-demand items to donate to the center, such as diapers, classroom supplies, toys, household items, and more. We’d be most thankful for your generosity. This is a completely virtual volunteer opportunity. All Donation Drives take place off-site, and the location, orchestration, and duration of the drives is entirely determined by the drive hosts, on behalf of Cornerstone Center. The delivery of the items will be arranged with Cornerstone Center for Early Learning directly. If in-person contact is required to facilitate the item drop-off, the following guidelines will be adhered to as necessary. In light of COVID-19, we are asking all volunteers to wear masks and to social distance when present at the Cornerstone facilities. When volunteers arrive, we will take their temperature. For the protection of volunteers, staff, and children alike, volunteers are not permitted to have direct contact with children or staff. If necessary, only one volunteer will be allowed in the building at a time, and their indoor access will be limited to sections of the Cornerstone facility where there are no children present.

Virtual Opportunity
At Cornerstone Center for Early Learning, you can get involved with one (or both) of two committees! Friends of Cornerstone Center: The Friends of Cornerstone Center is a group of committed and caring young professionals who want to raise awareness and fundraise for Cornerstone Center for Early Learning. These individuals are in their 20s, 30s, and 40s and come from many different career fields. The group is responsible for planning the annual Cornerstone Center Trivia Night in November as well as numerous other friend and fundraising events. Join a close-knit, hardworking volunteer team that meets regularly to help raise funds for and spread awareness about Cornerstone! Celebration Committee: Every year for the past 26 years, Cornerstone Center for Early Learning has hosted an annual Celebration for Children Gala. The Celebration provides a wonderful opportunity for friends, parents, sponsors, and donors to celebrate and support our nonprofit early childhood care and education services through auctions, raffles, and more! Join a resourceful committee that meets regularly year-round to plan and orchestrate this classic Cornerstone event. Committee membership is available year-round, and involves monthly meetings. Currently, committee meetings have been taken virtual for the safety of volunteers and staff. Volunteers meet virtually once a month, with occasional additional meetings or opportunities.
