Brighton Youth IMPACT is a group of young people in grades 6-9 who are dedicated to serving their community and making a positive impact on others. Youth IMPACT is one of many programs designed by the Youth Services Office to empower young people on a path of leadership and civic engagement. IMPACT stands for Initiating More Positive Acts and Compassion Together. The group will meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m at City Hall. Dinner will be provided. In addition to monthly meetings, members will also volunteer as a group each month. This program is designed to offer participants a fun group environment where they can experience: Leadership development Improved confidence New friendships Volunteer opportunities Applications are now open. The deadline to apply is June 17 and interviews will be held June 24 from 1-3 p.m. at City Hall.

he Brighton Youth Commission is a great way for youth and adults to get involved with the municipal government of Brighton. This organization can help youth to develop leadership skills, and also allows individuals to make a difference in their community. Twenty-two youth are given a voice in local government, allowing them to create projects and work on ideas affecting teens. What do we do The Brighton Youth Commission (BYC) is a body of youth and 6 adults that are appointed by the city council to study and investigate matters impacting youth in the City of Brighton. The BYC plans and implements projects addressing these matters. Our Mission The Brighton Youth Commission is committed to advocating for youth by providing them the opportunity to learn, lead, and serve through community outreach, service projects, and establishing youth adult partnerships.

Youth are given a voice in local government, allowing them to create projects and work on ideas affecting teens. Adults work on strengthing youth adult parnerships and are active mentors to youth serving on the commission.

Mission Statement
The Office of Youth Services was created when the City Council and key staff created a steering committee to address the growing needs of Brighton’s children, youth and families in 2004. Completed in 2007, Master Plan on Youth, Education, and Families, City Council made a commitment to increase its focus, efforts, and resources on ensuring that the necessary services, supports, and opportunities are available to every child, young person, and family living in Brighton.

The Youth Services office plays an integral role in researching and developing programs for youth in Brighton, including, but not limited to, The City of Brighton Image Summit, The Growing Grads Initiatives, the Brighton Youth Commission and Brighton Youth IMPACT.
