Brighton Youth IMPACT is a group of young people in grades 6-9 who are dedicated to serving their community and making a positive impact on others. Youth IMPACT is one of many programs designed by the Youth Services Office to empower young people on a path of leadership and civic engagement. IMPACT stands for Initiating More Positive Acts and Compassion Together. The group will meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m at City Hall. Dinner will be provided. In addition to monthly meetings, members will also volunteer as a group each month. This program is designed to offer participants a fun group environment where they can experience:

  • Leadership development
  • Improved confidence
  • New friendships
  • Volunteer opportunities
Applications are now open. The deadline to apply is June 17 and interviews will be held June 24 from 1-3 p.m. at City Hall.

The Office of Youth Services was created when the City Council and key staff created a steering committee to address the growing needs of Brighton’s children, youth and families in 2004. Completed in 2007, Master Plan on Youth, Education, and Families, City Council made a commitment to increase its focus, efforts, and resources on ensuring that the necessary services, supports, and opportunities are available to every child, young person, and family living in Brighton.

Description

The Youth Services office plays an integral role in researching and developing programs for youth in Brighton, including, but not limited to, The City of Brighton Image Summit, The Growing Grads Initiatives, the Brighton Youth Commission and Brighton Youth IMPACT.

  • Orientation or Training
  • This group meets monthly to work on leadership skills in addition to volunteering as a group. Applicants must be in 6th-9th grade and live in the Brighton OR attend a School District 27J school.
