Support local disaster responses from your home! Liaison with local authorities by phone and computer and dispatch and support Red Cross disaster responders. Disaster Cycle Services Duty Officer (aka Dispatcher) Support local disaster responses from your home! Liaison with local authorities by phone and computer, serving critical communications need. Dispatch and support Red Cross disaster responders. Responsibilities: Process requests from local authorities, determining if Red Cross action is warranted based on event triggers (i.e., size, scope, and type of event). All training provided, along with back-up support as needed. Dispatch disaster response teams & resources and provide remote support. Complete and share documentation. Attend regularly scheduled meetings and stay current on all training. Additional related duties as discussed with supervisor. Commitment: Virtual regional position using your home phone and Internet covering Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties. May work from Red Cross office if preferred. Customizable on-call three 4-hour shifts per month which you schedule. If nothing happens during your window of availability, go about your normal day. But if there is an event, the expectation is you can put aside what you are doing to respond. Qualifications: Minimum age 18. Access to smart phone, computer, and Internet with ability to send/receive text messages. Willingness to use/learn new technology required for event documentation and support. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Comfortable working independently. Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
