The Amphibian Foundation is seeking volunteers to work in the live animal collections at the Amphibian Foundation. The Collections Team is responsible for the care and maintenance of several cosmopolitan collections of amphibians and reptiles across 6 laboratories, and is made up of 5 staff members, and over 30 volunteers. If you would like to join this dynamic and diverse team of passionate conservation-minded people, please reach out to us. Our turtles and tortoises benefit greatly by being provided outdoor walks on the Blue Heron Nature Preserve in Atlanta (where AF is located). Dedicated turtle walkers, who can supervise the roaming tortoises. provide essential care in a very peaceful way. We provide all the training necessary , and our volunteers work with us on the front line of conservation, research, and educational projects caring for exciting, rare, and endangered species. This primarily includes the feeding, cleaning, maintenance, and health data collection. Turtle Walker volunteers work Tues and/or Thurs and/or Friday mornings from 9:30 - 12 pm.

The Amphibian Foundation is seeking a volunteer to work directly with the Facilities Manager at the Amphibian Foundation, and help ensure the proper functioning of life-systems and captive management systems at our facility in Buckhead. The world-class amphibian and reptile housing facilities are unique, and most operations have been custom-built by the Facilities Manager. With over 700 animals on site, there is a lot of upkeep and this volunteer role would work directly with the Facilities Manager to make sure everything is in perfect working order. We provide all the training necessary , and our volunteers work with us on the front line of conservation, research, and educational projects caring for exciting, rare, and endangered species. Tues mornings from 9:30 - 12 pm. Must be able to lift 40# on occasion, and navigate stairs. Basic understanding of tools and safety are preferred. No previous experience is necessary as we fully train all volunteers in husbandry and biosecurity. Due to COVID-19 guidance and restrictions, we work following all suggested CDC guidance for the health of the staff, volunteers, and animals. You are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. The Amphibian Foundation in Buckhead (Atlanta) has openings in the Collections Team, working directly with a large collection of amphibians, reptiles, and invertebrates. Volunteers will be thoroughly trained, and no prior experience is required. These positions are available for those that would like to gain experience with animal care, work with a passionate team of volunteers, and contribute to the conservation of amphibians and reptiles. Volunteer shifts occur on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings (9:30-12) and preference will be given to those that can volunteer for multiple shifts, although we welcome applicants who can contribute on any day. Animal care such as cleaning, feeding, and maintenance routines, with some working with solutions such as bleach and chlorhexidine are required.
