Can you lend us a hand in our hospice office? We need administrative support! Are you looking to gain experience in an office or working with a hospice but aren't ready for direct patient care responsibilities? Hospice administrative volunteers assist us with all aspects of hospice care including marketing materials, bereavement, human resources, nurse and patient information and tuck in calls for our patients. Our office, located in North Dallas (off Belt Line road) always has more projects than we have hands to tackle them and we could really use your help! Are you a veteran and want to help support other vets at the end of life? Veterans at the end of life deserve the best kind of support from someone who understands! Become a Vet to Vet volunteer with GOOD SHEPHERD HOSPICE! Vet to Vet volunteers spend time with hospice and palliative care patients in the patient's home. Have you ever experienced a personal loss and/or feel you can lend an ear to others experiencing the loss of a loved one? Good Shepherd Hospice is looking for Bereavement volunteers to help our chaplains and social workers support those who have lost someone dear to them. Volunteers will send sympathy cards, assist the chaplains/social workers and make calls or visits to bereaved family members to lend a shoulder and an ear to those experiencing loss. Bereavement volunteers are extensively trained to in the concepts of end of life care and peer support for the loved ones of someone who has died. Volunteers must be 18+ and willing to attend training and undergo a background check before working with patients and their families. This is an excellent opportunities for those considering medical or spiritual pathways or retired individuals who would like to support others! Do you have a talent for sewing or crafting? Good Shepherd Hospice would love volunteers to sew/create Remembrance Bears for our patients! Remembrance Bears are created for the families dealing with a loss of a loved one. Our sewing volunteers use a special piece of clothing that belonged to the patient that can be made into a Remembrance Bear. It can be a shirt, dress, pants or bathrobe. This bear is a treasured keepsake for children, grandchildren, or other family members who would like a huggable reminder of the person that they love. It is such a wonderful gift to our patient's families!
