AccentCare Hospice & Palliative Care is looking for Certified Pet Therapy Animals who are wanting to visit with our patients and families of Pinellas County! Your pet can be certifiable through any agency, if the agency provides a behavioral assessment, liability insurance, and annual certification :) What does a Certified Pet Therapy Animal do? Certified pet therapy animals provide companionship to many of our patients & families while living in a nursing home or assisted living facility, in one Hospice units or in the patients home. Many of our patients are missing their own pets and truly benefit from having these one-on-one visits. As a certified pet therapy volunteer, you can expect patients to happily interact with your animal, while sharing many laughs & smiles! MUSIC THERAPY INTERNSHIPS AccentCare Hospice of Pinellas County, Fl provides music therapy internships under the supervision of a board-certified music therapist. Interns may satisfy their required internship hours in a flexible schedule among clinical professionals who want you to get the most out of your experience! Master level students only. Population and Settings: Interns will work with adult patients on Hospice services and their families. They will provide music therapy services to patients in a variety of levels of care including patient’s homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and in our inpatient units located in Dunedin and Largo. Internship Expectations: Intern may complete their required hours, Monday - Friday during the hours of 8a-5p. They will complete a comprehensive training program, shadow all disciplines (Music Therapy, Social Work, Chaplain, Bereavement, and other clinicians providing direct patient care) before having their own caseload where they will be primarily leading individual sessions with patients and their families. They will document and update care plans accordingly. Interns can expect a variety of assignments that submerse them in all aspects of Hospice care. Our Expectations: The team at AccentCare Hospice will do everything we can to maximize our interns’ learning potential. We will adapt to the interns’ interests and learning objectives while highlighting their strengths and pushing them to grow as individuals and professionals. Our interns will experience a learning environment where they can freely ask questions, have reliable support, and feel like a part of the team. Check out one of our intern testimonials below. We take pride in your experience. Equipment provided: Laptop computer, tablet to document and in most cases a cell phone. Other Information and requirements: We require a car, auto insurance, and a valid driver’s license. Living arrangements are to be made by intern but our Volunteer Coordinator can provide suggestions. A complete background check, including criminal, driving record and drug screening will be required. Fingerprints are obtained. Kimberly will arrange an informal internship discussion where she will share details about the internship and answer any questions that you have. Candidates will then have an interview with our Director of Patient Experience. Applicant should be prepared to play 1-2 songs on the guitar and then if they wish, another instrument of their choosing.

AccentCare Hospice is currently seeking Volunteers to sit bedside with our patients who do not have family or friends during their final hours. This Volunteer opportunity takes place in Assisted Living Centers, Memory Cares, or Nursing Homes. A Vigil Volunteer is an essential part of our NODA (No-one dies alone) program. Volunteers will have a flexible schedule. Typical Vigil visits are 2-4 hours (depending on availability). Vigil volunteers are encouraged to bring a book or quiet activity along on the visit. You will receive training for this special kind of Volunteering. Vigil Volunteers can take on this opportunity after you have Volunteered for 6 months. Interested? AccentCare Hospice & Palliative Care is looking for Spiritual Care Volunteers to sit with our patients throughout Pinellas County! What does a Spiritual Care Volunteer do? Spiritual Care Volunteers spend one-on-one time with our patients/families in their home, nursing home, or assisted living facility. Many of our patients may be bed-bound and unable to engage in their spiritual community, or may want to engage in spiritual conversation at the end-of-life. Spiritual Care Volunteers may pray with the patients & family. They may discuss spirituality, sing hymns of faith, read the patients bible to him/her, engage in spiritual conversation, or just be a quiet supportive presence. Our patients come in as many faiths and backgrounds, and volunteers will be matched accordingly. Interested? Do you enjoy arts and crafts and want to Volunteer only a few hours a month? We are looking for a Volunteer who enjoys arts and crafts to join our Volunteer team. Our projects range from making thumbprint jewelry (no jewelry exp required!)to special seasonal projects like creating poster boards or crafting holiday decorations. Some projects can be completed in the office while others can be taken home. Training to become a Volunteer is virtual and go at your own pace.
