Greater self-knowledge from insights gained from relationships with patients, their families and from the hospice volunteer training. Hospice volunteers typically help by: Forming close bonds with patients and family members: Patients often want someone to listen in an unbiased way as they share their feelings and their life story. Family members need support, even if it's just a listening ear, as they comfort their loved ones. Improving communication within families by encouraging them to connect, share their feeling and talk honestly.

Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteers Compassus is proud to participate in the We Honor Veterans program. Many of our locations provide trained veteran volunteers who offer camaraderie & compassionate care for fellow veterans. Our veteran-to-veteran volunteers understand the unique needs of veterans because they ARE veterans. Families often tell us that hospice volunteers are treasured caregivers. Even if you work behind the scenes, you'll be helping others at a time of great need. Every volunteer receives free training.
