Activities enjoyed with your patient include: small conversation- minimal watching a movie reading or coloring playing cards gentle touch/ soft hand massage with lavender lotion Our hospice volunteers play a critical role in supporting patients. People who have experienced hospice uniquely know how important these weeks and months are for patients and loved ones. It takes a special calling to be with someone when they are about to transition. With help from people like you, we can ensure that families have a helping hand when they need it most.

This project will be created with a garment of clothing that beloned to their loved one. This memory bear may be made with a favorite shirt, dress, jeans or blanket. Silverado Hospice has an ongoing need for volunteers to offer comfort and companionship during the end-of-life process. This opportunity is for providing companionship and wellness checks to patients. The volunteer would have to complete a training provided by Silverado Hospice. Volunteers act as an additional support system for patients and/or their families through the process. Simplistic, but important task such as playing music quietly on a CD, phone or instrument. Reading poetry/scriptures, or sitting quietly while holding the hand of a patient are effective dignifying kinds of interactions. Volunteers will often times sit with the patient/family anywhere from 1 to 2 hours on a weekly basis. Additionally, volunteers will receive training so each volunteer can feel confident.
