About Mile High 360: Mile High 360 is seeking volunteers to assist our Health and Wellness Coordinators on bike rides and other activities with our middle and/or high school students. Additionally, we are looking for academic volunteers dedicated to transforming the lives of our students. We work with students in middle school, high school, and postsecondary settings, both during and outside of school hours. Volunteer Program Overview: On their first day, volunteers will participate in a full day of programming, engaging in both Health & Wellness and Academic Support activities. Our aim is for volunteers to gain exposure to all aspects of our programming, enabling them to identify the volunteer role that best fits their interests. This approach also allows volunteers to get to know our students in different settings, making it easier to engage with them. Volunteers are not here as authoritative figures or to manage behavior; rather, they are here to connect with students and build community. Requirements: Must pass background check Brief introductory call to help us get to know you better and explore your interests in our program. Attend Training & Orientation Roles and Responsibilities: Health & Wellness: Student Facing Offering support in group setting Participate in a variety of group activities like biking, playing games, cooking classes, and more Assist Health and Wellness Coordinators on bike rides with 5-20 student cyclists around the Denver Metro area. Support the safety of the group during all health and wellness activities (ex: using communication signals on bike rides) Empower students to develop biking skills through encouragement. Support with basic bike maintenance and safety checks. Participate in other activities & games with students Encourage students to find movements they enjoy Bike Maintenance Ability to work independently and problem-solve Support our bike fleet’s variety of needs (ex: fix flats, rewire break cables, adjust derailleur, etc) All tools provided by MH360 Anytime between M-TH 11 AM - 6:30 PM Academic Support: Offering support in 1:1 setting Tutor middle and/or high school students in academic subjects: reading, math, science, and/or social studies. Tutor students in college-level math, science, or writing. Review and support students with their homework. Share a special skill or occupation to enrich student learning Helping students refocus and stay on task while completing assignments Qualifications : Ability to commit to a full day of programming on your first day. Monday - Thursday - 4:30-6:30 PM Ability to bike 1-8 miles without breaks Availability to volunteer 1 day weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly Monday - Thursday between 4:30 - 6:30 PM. Preferred Spanish-speaking skills (not required). Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity for all students. Must pass a background check.
