Summary: The Office Assistant will perform a variety of tasks depending on project deadlines in the LightBridge Hospice office. This will include data entry filing, assistance with mailings, assembling hospice admissions packets, assisting the LightBridge Hospice Community Foundation with program Development, or other general office tasks assigned by Volunteer Manager. This position helps to extend the resources in all departments to better assist and direct the needs of our patients and their families. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Data entry * Filing * Other duties specifically around coordination of special events, or as assigned Requirements * Must present a professional appearance and a friendly manner * Must be dependable and punctual * Be self-directed, willing to take initiative, and detail-oriented * Respect and maintain confidentiality of LightBridge Hospice and Palliative Care volunteers, partners, donors, patients and families * Computer skills are desired, but not necessary Training & Supervision: · Attends general volunteer orientation · Completes office orientation which includes training on the following items: o Database Tutorial o Filing System

General Responsibility: Assist team with patient care in accordance with the plan of care. Duties may include: aromatherapy, therapeutic music, companionship, reading, letter writing and life review, family support, shopping, caregiver relief and family support, Memory Keepers, and Veterans programs. Administrative duties may include community out reach, clerical support, program development and fundraising support activities. Essential Functions: Introduce yourself to patients and family members Perform appropriate patient care Assist patient with meals if needed Maintain universal precautions Initiate communication to appropriate LightBridge staff when concerns arise Provide notification when a substitute is needed Regular submission of weekly volunteer notes Requirements: Immediately report to LBH pain, change in condition, falls, anxiety, or abuse Maintain auto insurance coverage consistent with the Company’s policy and provide current documentation of coverage ($300,000 total per occurrence). Willing to accept supervision and direction from the hospice team Agree with hospice philosophy Able to demonstrate competency requirements Maintain appropriate boundaries Honor time commitments Maintain confidentiality in all manners Screening for infectious diseases will be negative Attend regularly mandatory Volunteer Meetings Attend a minimum of two support, education, or team conferences annually Minimum of one year commitment; consisting of weekly visits of a minimum of one hour or more per week Immediately report to LBH pain, change in condition, falls, anxiety, or abuse Evaluation: Volunteer performance will be continually evaluated through field supervision and annual competency trainings and evaluations. Organizational Relationship: A member of the volunteer program with responsibility to that program: works under the direction of the volunteer manager and is supervised by the home care case manager. Purpose of the Position: Responsible for providing non-medical support services as needed to the home care patient and family on a volunteer basis.

Animal visits not only bring joy and happiness, but research has shown that interactions can decrease isolation and depression, reduce the symptoms of anxiety, improve pain, stabilize blood pressure, even improve cardiovascular health and sleep. We are looking for Pet Therapy Volunteers who are interested in visiting hospice patients in San Diego County. You will be able to make your own schedule and availability. Valid animal therapy certifications will be required. We hope you and you're furry friend will join the LightBridge team and bring joy to hospice patients in San Diego.
