Gentiva Hospice is proud to be a part of the We Honor Veterans program. As a WHV partner,we work in the community to ensure that excellent care at end-of-life is available for our nation’s Veterans and their families. To make our Veteran care complete, we need Veterans to visit with patients and their families .... as no one can truly understand the life experiences of a Veteran more than a fellow Veteran. Our Vet-to-Vet volunteers might Assist Veterans in reminiscing/telling life stories. Educate and assist patients in receiving Veteran benefits. Take part in pinning ceremonies or distribute certificates for Veterans Day and other recognition events. Assist in replacing lost medals. Take part in Pinning Ceremonies to honor our Veterans. As a veteran to veteran volunteer, you will visit with veterans who are receiving hospice services to allow them the opportunity to have companionship with a fellow veteran. You might help to organize a Patriot Guard drive-by or share a flag for our Final Salute. We provide all necessary training at our local office and assist with support when needed. Join us as we honor and express our gratitude to our heroes in their final days. Email or call our Volunteer Coordinators to learn more - 251-478-9900!
