Gentiva Hospice is seeking individuals who minister, CPE students, church organizations of any religion who are looking to gain experience in the health field, need volunteer hours or acquire a new skill and would like to make their resume stand out. I can Help. Volunteer Companions will be providing spiritual/emotional support for patient (s) or caregiver break if you desire, only. Would you like to make a difference in a person's life? As a hospice volunteer, you can provide any of the following services: Be a friendly visitor to patient by providing companionship Provide a break for caregivers by staying with and visiting a patient Bring your certified therapy dog to visit patients in their home or in a facilities Help a patient with light housekeeping or dog walking share you artistic side by playing an instrument, painting, crocheting, coloring, or singing Volunteer service is typically 1 a week for 1 to 2 hours. Gentiva offers volunteer/ student with the opportunities to gain experience, insight in the health field & preparing students the importance it is to interact with real patients. Volunteer you time & your talent. Our volunteers are an important part of our hospice care team; they help improve the quality of life for our patients, families and their caregivers by enriching their life with companionship, socialization & mental simulation. Activities that are helpful but are not limited are reading and writing letters, playing card games, playing/ listening to music, knitting/ crocheting or any way you can interact with your companion, but most importantly that you provide support during their most important time of their lives. Volunteers are the heart of the team. Your ability to care & help others at the end of their lives is tremendously profound and rewarding AND we could not do this without you. Has the thought of volunteering been on your mind? Then you have come to the right place. Gentiva Hospice is seeking volunteers like yourself to join our group of Spectacular Volunteers. Please come share your kindness at Gentiva Hospice. Would you lend a hand and sit with patient? Tasks include but are not limited: Providing socialization/ companionship, sharing a story, reading, listening/playing music with the residence for a short time. No skills are needed, just being kind, understanding and the desire to lend a hand. We support our volunteers and appreciate the important role they take part in. Training will be provided!
