Our volunteers are an important part of our hospice care team; they help improve the quality of life for our patients, families and their caregivers by enriching their life with companionship, socialization & mental simulation. Activities that are helpful but are not limited are reading and writing letters, playing card games, playing/ listening to music, knitting/ crocheting or any way you can interact with your companion, but most importantly that you provide support during their most important time of their lives. Volunteers are the heart of the team. Your ability to care & help others at the end of their lives is tremendously profound and rewarding AND we could not do this without you. Has the thought of volunteering been on your mind? Then you have come to the right place. Gentiva Hospice is seeking volunteers like yourself to join our group of Spectacular Volunteers. Please come share your kindness at Gentiva Hospice. Would you lend a hand and sit with patient? Tasks include but are not limited: Providing socialization/ companionship, sharing a story, reading, listening/playing music with the residence for a short time. Are you looking to acquire experience, new skills, hands-on in an office setting to help build your resume? Gentiva Hospice is seeking caring and compassionate Hospice Volunteers to join our Hospice Team. An Administrative Support Volunteer can help with work assignments such as: Answering phones, mailing, assemble packets, copying, filing, organizing and making friendly phone calls to our patients L etter of recommendation can be provided to help with school credits/education and/or future employment. We provide training to volunteers We require a background check/drug test prior to assignment. Hours are flexible, according to your availability. Are you seeking for a volunteer opportunity that does not demand much of your time due to your busy schedule? Look no further because we have an opportunity just for you. Our Tuck-In-call volunteer will make 1 X PER WEEK check-in call to their assigned caregiver. Assignment will take place in the office to ensure they have all the medications, supplies, and equipment they need to care for their loved one throughout patient's time in our care. We have found this extra layer of support has dramatically increased the caregiver's confidence in their role and ensures that they have all the supplies and support they need throughout the week. If you are a student/ or anyone looking to gain experience in the workforce, build your resume, need volunteer hours, or requisition for a scholarship, I can help!
