Assisting Property Coordinator with basic daily needs of the lodge and grounds, such as emptying dehumidifiers or filling humidifiers, carrying out small fixes as needed, opening and closing the lodge for guests (if staying overnight), prepping around the building for incoming weekend retreats, and feeding wood to our outdoor furnice. Daily Monday-Friday (Daily or overnight) Overnight stays require 6 hours of volunteer time per day, as well as a completed background check.

ARC sits on 90 arces of pine forest with approximitaly 30 arces of maintained woodlands and trails that are in need of someone who can properly identify safety concerns, report them in writing, tree climbing, trimming, dropping, and chopping. We have dozens of smaller trees around our building that could be worked by anyone with tree removal expierence/knowledge and a chainsaw, along with additional volunteer support, if wanted.

Preparing our grounds and property for incoming retreats: Sweeping, shoveling, and blowing around the buildings and screened patio, cleaning entryways and exterior windows, setting up the fire pit, and tidying and sweeping the gazebo.

Volunteer Grounds Maintenance Position at ARC Retreat Community Location: ARC Retreat Community, nestled on 90 acres of pristine white pine forest in the Grandy Pines. About Us: ARC Retreat Community is a serene and picturesque retreat center dedicated to providing a peaceful environment for our guests. We believe in the healing power of nature and strive to maintain our beautiful grounds to the highest standards. Role Description: As a Volunteer Grounds Maintenance Worker, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the safety, beauty, and functionality of our outdoor spaces. If you relish the great outdoors, enjoy physical work, and find joy in working with wood, this position is perfect for you. Responsibilities: Wood Chipping, cutting, and stacking: We are in need of indiviuals and groups who have experience in using wood splitters to assist in processing wood for the winter, as well as those who would enjoy chipping and laying them down on the trails. Trail Maintenance: Regular trail walking to ensure safe and well-maintained paths for our guests. Processing wood and spreading woodchips to elevate the trails. Grounds Clearance: Clearing debris, fallen branches, and maintaining a tidy appearance across the property. Bonfire Tender: Looking for somebody who would love to tend a fire pit, while soaking in bird songs and fresh air. Development: Assisting in the development of new outdoor spaces, such as gardens, trails and pathways. Expansion: Contributing to the expansion and enhancement of our retreat center. Qualifications: Passion for the outdoors and a love for working in nature and with wood. Ability to use tools such as weedwipers, lawnmowers, chainsaws, hand saws, and other equipment. (Not necessary, but helpful.) Physical fitness and stamina for outdoor tasks. Positive attitude and willingness to collaborate with our team. Benefits: Wonderful nourishing meals provided. Overnight stays available at no cost for volunteers who would like to stay for more than from 2 days up to a week, depending on room availability.
