The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. The VIP program helps support the Sheriff’s Office goals and mission by developing and strengthening partnerships and relationships with the community.
The program began in 1995 with the purpose of assisting the Sheriff’s Office. It started with just a few individuals who performed tasks which were mostly administrative in nature, but it has grown to be a valuable service to Henderson County by providing; added security to the Judicial Courthouse, security at the Historic Courthouse, front desk duty at the Sheriff’s Office as well as the Detention Center, fingerprinting services for non criminal matters, traffic control for events, funeral escorts, Meals on Wheels and patrol in Henderson County neighborhoods to name a few.
