Early Care and Education Programs

All main Children’s Institute campuses have center-based Early Care and Education Programs. These programs serve children from six weeks to five years old. They are full-day programs held Monday through Friday ongoing. Volunteers - especially those with a background in Early Childhood Development, Early Education, Child Psychology, and related fields - are welcomed. University students who need to fulfill hours in the above fields are preferred.

Early childhood programs at CII are comprised of the children of parents served in programs such as Domestic Violence, Parenting, Grandma’s House, Project Fatherhood and others.. These programs may also serve community children and siblings of children receiving treatment services and other services at CII. CII ECE Programs are enhanced preschool programs sensitive to the needs of children whose families are in crisis or whose incomes are very low.

Preschool Day Treatment, a unique mental health program for seriously emotionally disturbed children ages three through five, helps children who have experienced trauma from family or community violence or multiple placements. This very small, heavily-staffed program is ideal for volunteers who want to work with a strong, skilled staff to help these youngsters recover well enough to enter kindergarten.
