Mission Statement

Founded in 1906, Children’s Institute is the largest agency of its kind working to transform the lives of children exposed to adversity and poverty in Los Angeles.

Description

Far too many children are impacted by persistent poverty and toxic stress. Untreated trauma from neglect, abuse and violence can have lasting consequences on young bodies, brains and futures. Children’s Institute provides early education, behavioral health and family strengthening services to 26,000 children and families each year. We also train professionals and caregivers in trauma-informed care, evidence-based clinical treatment, parenting and fatherhood.

Children's Institute, Inc. is a wonderful organization that helps underserved youth. It was a pleasure to help them assemble dorm kits for foster children who will attend college in the fall. The staff is friendly, professional, and welcoming.

The work they do is multifaceted to reach an undeserved community. They are enthusiastic and grateful for assistance.

The staff is very supportive. You get to bond with young children and serve as a positive role model. I was part of the summer Super Start program that met once a week and I had an enjoyable experience.
