Do you love animals, have finance or bookkeeping experience, and a desire to join a hands-on Board of Directors?

Gifford Cat Shelter, the country's oldest no kill cat shelter, is currently seeking candidates to serve as Treasurer of its board. Located in Brighton near Boston College and very close to the Green line BC stop, Gifford has humanely cared for and adopted out thousands of cats since its founding in the 1800's. Gifford is a well regarded shelter with a proud legacy, a strong future, and a philosophy of caring for each cat as if they were our own. With a small but dedicated staff, the shelter relies on a community of passionate volunteers and board members to sustain its operations.

The Treasurer is a key role, responsible for oversight of the shelter's finances, work with the Executive Director and board on financial controls and strategy, communication with the shelter's accounting firm, and other related matters. Certain duties are tactical and ongoing, including involvement in the shelter's QuickBooks entries and upkeep, bank accounts and transactions, and control of cash at key fundraising events. Familiarity with Excel and financial modeling desired. Additional duties include attendance at board meetings and shelter events. The time commitment varies, but will be approximately 3 - 5 hours per week.

If you're interested, we'd love to hear from you. Please contact Lisa at lisas@ren-network.com
