Bilingual Holiday Program Translators

ORGANIZATION: Britepaths

Britepaths' Holiday Program helps disadvantaged families throughout Fairfax County by matching them with sponsors in the community who will provide a Thanksgiving meal, December holiday meal and/or December gifts for children.

From late October through December, we will have a great need for bilingual volunteers to assist donors who are sponsoring families through our Holiday Program to communicate with the non-English-speaking families they are sponsoring. Spanish-speaking volunteers will be greatly needed, but we may have need for assistance from volunteers who speak Vietnamese, South Asian and Middle Eastern languages.

Donors will contact you by phone or email to request your assistance in communicating with non-English-speaking families. You will contact the family to ask questions the donors have and set up gift/meal delivery times and then respond to donors with the answers they are seeking.

This is an at home/virtual opportunity and can be done on the evenings and weekends -- whenever is convenient for you. Donors are most likely to need assistance in the weeks and days leading up to Thanksgiving and Christmas.
