Background Information: Would you like to learn about local food systems while helping community members who are struggling have access to fresh local food? Volunteer with Britepaths as our EBT Coordinator! Britepaths is seeking community members to serve as EBT Coordinators at the Annandale Farmers Market, which is operated by the Fairfax County Park Authority. This unpaid volunteer position in partnership with FRESHFARM will support the Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) program at the Market (located at Mason District Park, 6621 Columbia Pike, Annandale, VA). The EBT program allows community members who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, formerly known as food stamps, to utilize their benefits at the Market so they may purchase eligible items, including fresh fruits and vegetables. The matching dollar program allows SNAP customers to stretch their food budget further to make fresh local produce more affordable. Position Description: This is an unpaid, part-time position, which requires a minimum of 5 hours of work every other week on Thursdays, 7:15 am to 12:30 pm. Volunteer must be 18 or older and able to provide own transportation to the Market. The EBT Coordinator helps qualified community members access EBT vouchers throughout the Farmers Market season: May -November, 2022. Responsibilities: Must learn and commit to adhering to the Fairfax County Farmers Market COVID-19 Guidelines at all times on the Market premises. Includes encouraging adherence to Guidelines by all who visit the EBT table, and keeping up to date with any changes in Guidelines during the season. Understand Annandale Farmers Market token exchange process, guidelines, and requirements for implementing the SNAP matching program and accurately communicate information about those programs to volunteers, market vendors, and diverse customers. Operate the SNAP EBT terminal and dispense SNAP and match tokens according to established procedures. Manage paperwork, reporting and maintaining inventory of necessary supplies. Assist in setting up the information booth tent, table, and signs. All items will be stored on-site at the designated location. Provide general customer services, such as answering questions about the SNAP program and helping customers search for specific vendors or products. Requirements: Friendly and outgoing. Strong customer service skills and experience. Ability to work in an environment requiring flexibility, responsiveness, and multi-tasking. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. An interest/passion in farmers markets, local economic development, and place-making. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Work Schedule: The EBT program is offered at the Annandale Farmers Market season May -November 2022, Thursdays, 7:30 am - 12:30 pm. Britepaths' provide emergency and short-term assistance to Northern Virgina residents who are struggling to make ends meet - helping them bridge the gap while they recover from a crisis. We are seeking an Office Volunteer to support the Office Administrator with organizing our supply closet. Britepaths Office Volunteer will work in the Fairfax office until the project is completed (we estimate 2 days only). The work schedule is flexible, but core hours are from 10 am-2 pm, Monday - Friday. Fully vaccinated and reliable transportation is a must for this position. Ideal candidates will have strong organizational abilities. Must be self-motivated have excellent organizational and planning skills, and collaborate easily with diverse groups. Interpersonal skills are essential.

Volunteers need to have strong writing skills and be LinkedIn users. The second opportunity is working with clients on mock interviews. Volunteers should have experience hiring candidates for jobs, strong interpersonal skills, and are willing to meet virtually with clients to provide immediate feedback and tips for connecting with interviewers. Clients receiving either support are enrolled in a Workforce Development Program and are committed to working with our staff and volunteers to improve their career outlook through gaining interview skills and developing LinkedIn profiles. We welcome professionals in all fields in Northern Virginia/DMV area. Volunteers' time is flexible, and meetings occur on video-chat platforms. This would be a flexible, ongoing, as-needed volunteer position with Britepaths.

Britepaths is seeking volunteers who are experienced with the Federal and/or non-federal resume writing and would be willing to work with our clients to provide edits, reviews, and feedback for their resumes, as well as with cover letter writing assistance. Volunteers should have strong writing skills and attention to detail and be knowledgeable about resume formatting and styling, use of keywords, bullets, and language so that clients' strengths will be highlighted. Clients receiving either support are enrolled in a Workforce Development Program and are committed to working with our staff and volunteers to improve their career outlook through gaining resume skills and improving their employment prospects. We welcome volunteers in all professional fields within the Northern Virginia/DMV area.Volunteers' time is flexible, and help may be given via phone calls and/or Zoom meetings. This would be a flexible, ongoing, as-needed volunteer position with Britepaths.
