Rider & Volunteers
A Hippotherapy student receives support from volunteers and Marcus pony.

Share approximately 2 or more hours per week helping in either equine assisted activities (horseback riding lessons) or occupational/physical therapy (Hippotherapy) for people with physical, intellectual and/or emotional challenges. Classes may be held Mondays, Thursdays & Fridays during the day, Monday through Thursday evenings, as well as Saturday mornings and afternoons. Volunteer help is needed to groom & tack horses prior to lessons, lead horses or walk alongside riders who may require physical or verbal support during lessons, and untacking and grooming horses following lessons. Volunteer training is provided but not mandatory. No prior experience with special people or horses is needed. Please see website for further information about volunteering with us; www.3gaits.org

Description

Three Gaits is located on a 20 acre farm about 15 minutes south of Madison, WI - about half way between Stoughton & Oregon, WI. Group and private recreational equine riding and carriage driving classes as well as occupational and physical therapy that incorporate horses (& their movement) into the therapy sessions are held year round. Day camps are held over the summer focusing on both riding as well as volunteering.
