A Hippotherapy student receives support from volunteers and Marcus pony.


Share approximately 2 or more hours per week helping in either equine assisted activities (horseback riding lessons) or therapy for children, youth or adults with special needs or disabilities. Classes are typically held Monday and Thursday afternoons, Monday through Thursday evenings, as well as Saturday mornings. Volunteer help is needed to groom & tack horses prior to lessons, lead horses or walk alongside riders who may require physical or verbal support during lessons, and untacking and grooming horses following lessons. Volunteer training is provided but not mandatory. Please see website for further information;

Requirements & Commitment

  • Must be at least 14
  • 2 or more hours per week over a 10-12 week session
  • Volunteer Training held Feb, May & Sep-not mandatory. No horse experience required. Walking required
