GLASA is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with our ongoing tennis program for children, adults and injured veterans with a primary physical or visual impairment.
The program is coached by USTA Pro Mike Carrico and Paul Moran (2008 Men's Tennis Paralympian). Tennis Instruction is provided for the beginner, intermediate and tournament level players who are ambulatory (standing) or use a manual or power chair. Volunteers will assist the coaches with drills, fielding balls, one-on-one technique work and playing in matches with athletes.
The tennis program is held on Saturday afternoons year-around.
Volunteers Make It Happen!
A.C. Nielson and GLASA have made some changes in order to adhere to the CDC and State of Illinois guidelines. Here are some of the guidelines we will be following:
- Social Distancing: remain 6 feet or more apart
- Pick up ball with hoppers (no contact with the balls that others may have touched)
- You are required to wear a face mask while inside A.C. Nielson (wearing a facemask is NOT required on the outdoor courts but is welcome)
More opportunities with Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA)
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
