ORGANIZATION: Einstein Montgomery Home Care and Hospice

  • 9 people are interested

Montgomery Hospital Hospice is a non-profit organization. We are looking for Certified Pet Therapy Volunteers to join our interdisciplinary team as they assist patients and their families on the journey through end of life. Volunteers and their pets visit patients to offer companionship, reduce loneliness and stress, provide social interaction and uplift the lives of pet lovers now separated from their pets. As a volunteer member of our interdisciplinary team, they will undergo a modified training, which includes an introduction to hospice philosophy and goals, HIPAA, personal safety and policies and procedures specific to Montgomery Hospice volunteers. They will need to have their pet's certification form through your organization (such as Delta or Therapy Dogs International) and have a record of up-to-date vaccinations and keep their pets well groomed. They will be assigned to patients in their own geographical area who have requested pet visits. Volunteers can work as many hours as they wish and have flexibility in scheduling their own visits, once assigned to a patient. They may visit patients in their own homes (accompanied by a nurse) or in facilities throughout Montgomery County.
