Masterworks is a vibrant and progressive community choir that serves the San Francisco Bay Area and Peninsula. As our name indicates, we are firmly rooted in the choral canon. However, in an effort to reflect the diversity of experiences, thought, and cultures of our constituent demographics, we have increasingly expanded our repertoire. Our outreach program engages with those for whom the arts may be relatively inaccessible - school-aged children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and seniors with memory impairment.

Our collaborations with other arts groups have enabled us to become more meaningfully connected with our community, and we continue to pursue a variety of community partnerships to enhance the vibrancy of the arts landscape on the Peninsula.

We will be celebrating our 60th anniversary in the 2023-2024 season! In planning for this important milestone, we welcome diverse voices and ideas to commemorate our extensive legacy and further our vibrant future vision. Our board members serve for a term of three years, attending six meetings a year as well as offering occasional committee input. For further information about the organization, please visit www.masterworks.org.

If, like us, you are interesting, fun, smart, and driven, we’d love to have you join us. Several board positions will soon become available - experience with fundraising, event planning, marketing, analytics, finance, or grant writing will be especially helpful.

Description

Founded in 1964 by the late Galen Marshall, Masterworks Chorale is a much-loved Bay Area institution, treasured for its warmth of tone, technical excellence and commitment to the local community. Dr. Bryan Baker has ben the Artistic Director of the Chorale since the Fall of 2002 and is beloved by the Bay Area arts community.
Each season, the Chorale performs 4 sets of concerts, accompanied by leading Bay Area professional instrumentalists and vocal soloists.
Masterworks collaborates with a variety of local arts organizations and enjoys outreach partnerships with high impact organizations such as Boys & Girls Club and Samaritan House.
Formerly funded by the College of San Mateo, Masterworks has successfully transitioned into an independent community organization. The values of the choir -- caring culture, inclusion, and diversity -- will ensure that Masterworks will continue its path into the future.
