ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer's Association, Colorado Chapter

Our Helpline takes calls from over 2,500 people with demenia and/or their caregivers every year. While others may be taking those phone calls, we need one or two people to help behind the scene;

  1. updating our information and referral listings
  2. entering our advocacy and trial match contacts into our data base
  3. doing basic web searches and making calls to confirm contact information
  4. sending thatnk you emails

Our mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Our vision is a world without Alzheimer's disease.

Mission Statement

We lead Colorado in the fight against Alzheimer's disease and related disorders by increasing the understanding of dementia and its impact on family and community, providing information and support for those affected, and promoting the advancement of research.

Description

The Alzheimer's Association Colorado Chapter works with diagnosed individuals, families, caregivers and health care professionals to provide care and support for those who are affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. We provide a 24/7 Helpline; offer free and confidentail Care Consultations; manage 90 support groups monthly; oversee Memories in the Making art program in area nursing homes; present educational programs across the state; and assist in enrolling persons with the disease in safety programs. We offer culturally approptiate support for Latinos, African Americans and the LGBT community. Several time during the year we have fundraising events, including: The Walk to END Alzheimer's, The Longest Day, the Memories in the Making Gala and Riv/ALZ.
