Chinatown YMCA After School Programs provides after school homework help and enrichment projects for students at elementary schools/after school sites. We serve more than 600 students in the Chinatown area by helping them to develop their English and math skills. Tutors will mainly be responsible for assisting students in understanding schoolwork concepts and completing homework assignments.

Essential Functions:
- To assist students enrolled (kindergarten through fifth grade) in developing English and math skills. The tutor will mainly be responsible for assisting students in understanding schoolwork concepts and completing homework assignments
- To act as role models who will help students enhancing self-esteem and confidence through patience and encouragement
- Assist students in reading, writing, and other literacy-based skills in cooperation with the afterschool program staff
- Direct any questions or concerns to Site Coordinators and/or Volunteer Services Director
- Notify Site Coordinators and/or Volunteer Director in advance if you are expecting to be absent. Excessive absences will not be allowed

All volunteers working with the YMCA are considered to have supervisory or disciplinary action relationship over minors. Fingerprints will be take upon commencement of volunteer agreement and will be submitted to the Association Office Human Resources department prior to the beginning of the first day of work. Volunteers may be re-checked every two years.
