Would you like to help a young mother with no food for her family find food to feed her hungry children? Would you like to help a homeless person find a warm shelter? Would you like to perhaps literally save somebody's life by connecting them to a suicide prevention counselor?
You can do all of these things and help so many more people in various forms of distress by volunteering to work at 211 Riverside. As a volunteer, you would be fully trained to answer calls on our hotline and provide resources and referrals to people seeking help.
Volunteer requirements include having a caring attitude, a good phone voice, and the ability to use a computer. Volunteer hours can be arranged to suit your schedule any time Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. After training, volunteers are asked to commit a minimum of at least 4 hours per week for 6 months but other periods of commitment will be considered.
Credit can be given for student internships.
