Volunteers will choose one (or more!) days per week to clean the PetSmart adoption center in the evening (we have cages at the PetSmart off of Siegen in Baton Rouge, LA). It takes about an hour, and should be done sometime between 4pm and 8pm. Basic tasks include emptying litter boxes, replacing water and topping off food. It's also important to spend a little time playing with or cuddling each cat to make sure they get attention and to check for any health issues. An APAWS volunteer will train you on what to do before you start.

Mission Statement

A.P.A.W.S. (Animal Protection And Welfare Society) is dedicated to providing help for homeless animals in the Baton Rouge, LA area.

Description

A.P.A.W.S. (Animal Protection And Welfare Society) is an all volunteer group of people who are dedicated to ensuring that all pet animals in and around the Baton Rouge area live in homes which provide for all of the animal's physical and emotional needs (including daily maintenance, medical care and nurturing) for the animal's lifetime.

Some volunteers provide food, shelter and love in their homes to cats and dogs who have been injured, abandoned or thrown away. Others help by transporting the animals to veterinarian appointments, volunteering on Adoption Days, participating in fund raising activities, mailings, publicity efforts and public education. Because we receive no external funding, we rely on fund raising efforts and donations to fund our efforts.
