Mission Statement

A.P.A.W.S. (Animal Protection And Welfare Society) is dedicated to providing help for homeless animals in the Baton Rouge, LA area.

Description

A.P.A.W.S. (Animal Protection And Welfare Society) is an all volunteer group of people who are dedicated to ensuring that all pet animals in and around the Baton Rouge area live in homes which provide for all of the animal's physical and emotional needs (including daily maintenance, medical care and nurturing) for the animal's lifetime.

Some volunteers provide food, shelter and love in their homes to cats and dogs who have been injured, abandoned or thrown away. Others help by transporting the animals to veterinarian appointments, volunteering on Adoption Days, participating in fund raising activities, mailings, publicity efforts and public education. Because we receive no external funding, we rely on fund raising efforts and donations to fund our efforts.

APAWS is helping animals, which most of society has forgotten about; most of which have come in with injures. Euthanasia is only used if there is no other opption; otherwise will work on rasising funds to cover the vet cost. The voulenteers are nice, helpful, and becomelike a second family for many. We all get sad when our fosters find their furever homes but it allows us to save another. We can't be selfish when it comes to rescuing. There are so many ways to help if you cant adopt or Foster. I strongly believe everyone should voulenteer at least once to see what APAWS is really all about for yourself.
