The General Counsel (GC) shall serve as the organization's chief legal representative. Has responsibility for all HSFA business and communications, in any medium, to ensure its legality vis-a-vis local, state or federal regulations. Keeps and maintains adequate and correct records of HSFA's by-laws, IRS status, and compliance (or non-compliance) with any governmental regulation. Provides legal opinions as necessary to HSFA executives and staff. Liaises with all external organizations regarding HSFA legal matters. Renders to the president and directors, whenever requested, an account of any or all of his or her opinions and actions as GC Prepares, or causes to be prepared, any HSFA statements relative to legal compliance.
Prepares, or cause to be prepared all necessary and required federal, state and local legal compliance filings In general, perform all duties incident to the office of the GC and such other duties as may be required by law, by the by-laws, or which may be assigned to him or her by the board of directors. Is a member of the HSFA Governance and Finance Committee.
