Environmental Awareness Days 2017 for 5th Graders

The Nez Perce Soil and Water Conservation District is seeking volunteers for Environmental Awareness Days 2017.

Fifth graders from local schools participate in the two-day event each year that offers a hand-on learning approach to natural resource conservation. Natural resource stations led by local professionals are set up throughout Hells Gate Park and groups of students spend the day rotating through each one to learn about resources like soil, habitat, and water. The event will take place at Hells Gate State Park on Tuesday and Wednesday (May 2 & May 3, 2017). Volunteers will be asked to participate in one or more of the following duties:

Help with set-up/take-down

Involves setting up canopies (if outside), helping instructors with station set-up and/or Assist with take-down following the event

This position is needed from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm

Group Leader

This involves meeting with a group of students as they get off the bus, communicating the rules of the event and directing them from station to station throughout the day.

You will not need to teach a station, but will need to help guide students to stations.

This position is needed from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm

Rover

This position is needed to make sure the event runs smoothly. Rovers help instructors and coordinator where needed with tasks like retrieving supplies, taking photos, assisting coordinator.
