The Arc of Oklaoma needs volunteers to monitor the quality of life for adults with developmental disabilities statewide for the Oklahoma Advocates Involved in Monitoring (OK-AIM) Program. The OK-AIM program was created by the State of Oklahoma and is administered by The Arc of Oklahoma to ensure people with developmental disabilities enjoy a high quality of life and receive the best possible state-funded residential services.

HOW YOU ASK:

You would be visiting the homes of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to advocate for them. You will have a short visit with the assigned individual and then record your experience during the visit. This allows The Arc of Oklahoma to make changes to their living situations if need be. You will be giving a voice to those who may not have one, you will be making a difference.

Description

The Arc of Oklahomaa was founded in 1952, by parents who beleived their children with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserved more- to be included in their communities and to pursue fufillment and happiness just like everyone else.
Ever since then, The Arc of Oklahoma has continued to grow and evolve along with the changing needs and issues people with disabilities and their families face- and has played a pivotal role in changing the public perception of disability in Oklahoma.
