Considered one of the best athletes of his time, world light heavyweight champion Archie Moore, better known as the Old Mongoose, took the boxing industry by storm beginning in the 1930s. In a career spanning over four decades, Moore led his division, delivering unstoppable punches and proving himself one of the all time greatest boxing heroes the sport has ever seen. With a record of just under 200 wins and 145 knockouts,

Archie Moore founded ABC as a prevention program. He believed that is what important to catch our youth when they were young and to teach them what they needed to do to be successful and what they should avoid.

This legacy is carried on by his son Billy Moore. Billy Moore is the President and CEO of ABC now. ABC continues the legacy by teaching life skills, Physical fitness, Boxing and providing wrap around services to ensure youth have the same opportunities to succeed in life no matter where they come from or what they look like.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Archie Moore, Anybody Can Youth Foundation (ABC Youth) is to empower San Diego's inner-city youth to face life's challenges without cowardice but with courage and dignity. ABC Youth addresses the need to support marginalized at-risk youth (ages 7-24) by providing them with an all-in-one after school program in a safe, inviting environment and giving them the tools and guidance needed to succeed. The ABC Youth approach provides consistent support and programming every weekday after school, nurturing early work habits, prosocial connections with peers and adults, supporting study, physical activity and healthy lifestyles, and ultimately college applications and acceptance, and transition to the workforce for approximately 600 youth annually.
