The Chicago gang land slaying of Darrion Albert. Considered one of the best athletes of his time, world light heavyweight champion Archie Moore, better known as the Old Mongoose, took the boxing industry by storm beginning in the 1930s. In a career spanning over four decades, Moore led his division, delivering unstoppable punches and proving himself one of the all time greatest boxing heroes the sport has ever seen. With a record of just under 200 wins and 145 knockouts, Archie Moores fervor and dedication will forever leave an impressionable mark on the boxing community.
Beyond his contribution to the boxing world, Moore also recognized his ability to involve himself in the development of young people in his community. Stemming from his own struggles in life.
Moore founded the Any Body Can program in an attempt to provide a positive outreach program to minority children. In many cases when given the tools to make good decisions these young people were spared from involvement with gangs and other poor choices.
Today the ABC Youth Foundation, spearheaded by Archies son Billy Moore, continues to foster increased self-esteem and academic excellence through the visions of his late father.
