Goal of this position is to support at risk youth in Springfield working with youth aged 14 and 15, Junior Highschool age; and 16-17 High School age.

The purpose of the program is to increase school attendance, reduce number of detentions, and increase those who engage in post secondary education.

Sample tasks and activities taking place during group, peer to peer, and one on one mentoring are:

  • Community Service and Learning projects
  • Instilling positive values, self esteem and motivation
  • Youth development and leadership, Guest speakers and Training
  • Encouraging youth commitment to learning and assisting w/ college visits
  • Fun field trips/Mentor & Mentee days
  • Special Recognition & incentives
