The Nursing Unit Volunteer serves as a liaison between patients and families and the hospital staff to fulfill nonclinical requests.
This may include welcoming the patient/family to the hospital, providing a warm blanket/extra pillows, refilling water pitchers, organizing unit supplies, and light cleaning. Also, finding ways to help patients and families be more comfortable during their stay by providing reading materials, puzzles, coloring, and spending time visiting with patients (talk, play cards, read a book, crafts).
Volunteers add extra warmth that is appreciated by our patients, their families and our staff. They are exceptional people who take the extra steps to make a difference in other people’s lives. Volunteering is a great learning experience and an excellent way to meet people and make new friends.

Our volunteers are truly special. While most people don’t choose to spend their time in a hospital, our volunteers do - dedicating their talents and service to our facilities, employees, patients and visitors. The impact of our volunteers is felt throughout our hospitals in the lives they touch every day.
