Volunteer English tutors are needed to work one-on-one or in small groups with adults who are learning English as a second language. Tutors spend one hour a week helping a student learn English: perhaps work on homework, read and understand the student's mail, read and understand a letter from the teacher of the student's child. We provide all training and materials. You provide a friendly face and a willingness to improve someone's life. Here's what other tutors have to say about volunteering with the English School: "Everyone benefits from the interaction, the tutor and the students. It's fun and the students seem terrifically appreciative. "I always feel good about the session. I'm impressed by how hard the students work. Many come straight from their jobs, arrive early, and seem eager to come back. Sometimes I think that I get more out of the sessions than the students do." "everyone was so friendly and the program was run smoothly. tutoring sessions were started on time and ended on time. I thought the program was very organized by people who cheerfully volunteered their time to sincerely care. great job everyone!!" We have three sessions a year. The Fall Semester runs from mid-September through the end of November. The Spring Semester runs from mid-January through mid-March. The Summer Session runs from April through mid-June.
