ORGANIZATION: Sound Generations

As a Meals on Wheels volunteer, you will belong to a team committed to helping homebound seniors maintain their health and independence with nutritious food, personal contact, and caring service.

Volunteer Coordinator:As the Volunteer Coordinator, the main responsibilities are to make sure that homebound elders receive the meals they order, that the necessary volunteers are on hand to pack and deliver the meals, that volunteers are trained and supported, and various office tasks that keep Meals on Wheels humming along on schedule.

In a pinch, the Coordinator can fill in for any member of the Meals on Wheels team, including delivering meals to clients. Training for this position is provided. The time commitment is 5-8 hours weekly. Availability on Thursdays from 9am-noon is needed, in addition availability for a few hours on an occasional Tuesday is desired.

Qualities sought in Meals on Wheels volunteers: Commitment to the well-being of elders, good communication skills, reliability, flexibility, attention to detail, resourcefulness, and good cheer.

Requirements: Complete an application. Consent to a background check. Be able to lift 15lbs. Be at least 24 years of age or better. Have a Washington State driver’s license and auto insurance. This is an ongoing, weekly commitment.

Our eleven programs operating throughout numerous community and senior center sites are constantly striving to expand the provision of food security, transportation, health & wellness, and assistance services to under served and marginalized populations. We are committed to helping all people, especially those in low-income communities and communities of color, obtain the services they need while feeling included and respected in a community that affirms aging.
